| Проект Melt – это автономное роботизированное проекционное устройство. Его центральная часть состоит из прозрачного стеклянного контейнера, наполненного водой. Вода периодически замерзает с помощью специальных электрических элементов (элементов Пельтье), превращая воду в линзу из льда. Эта линза дополнительно подвергается воздействию света, который начинает плавить этот лёд. Постепенно тающий прозрачный лёд – единственное, что генерирует изображение. Фактически, проект использует самоизменяющуюся линзу, которая создаёт оптические эффекты и искажения в зависимости от различных физических состояний воды. Художник подчеркивает фундаментальную важность циклического перехода вещества из одного состояния в другое (маятник) и прозрачность выбранного носителя, в котором сообщение создаётся и передаётся без какого-либо внешнего нарратива. |
| The Melt project is an autonomous robotized projection device. Its central part consists of a transparent glass container filled with water. The water is periodically frozen by means of special electrical elements (the Peltier elements), turning the water into lens made of ice. This lens is further exposed to the light which starts melting this ice. Gradually melting transparent ice is the only thing that generates the image. In fact, the project uses a self-modifying lens which creates optical effects and distortions depending on varying physical states of the water. The artist underlines the fundamental importance of cyclical transition of the substance from one state to another (pendulum) and the transparency of chosen medium - in which the message is created and transmitted without any external narrative involved. Melt is thus the message of light, of electric current, of crystals and lenses, in other words, of media carriers that retain their autonomous origin. |

Dmitry Morozov aka ::vtol:: (b.1986, Moscow) is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher. He focuses on contemporary media arts including sound, robotics and installation, placing special emphasis on the link between emergent systems and new kinds of technological synthesis.
His works have been exhibited at museums and galleries worldwide, including the NCCA, MMOMA, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Tretyakov State Gallery, Electromuseum, Laboratoria Art&Science Space (Moscow), Laznia Center for Contemporary Arts (Gdansk), ZKM Zentrum (Karlsruhe), Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (Boulder), National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (Taichung), Kapelica gallery (Ljubljana), ArtScience Museum (Singapore) etc., in 4th MBCA (Moscow), SIGGRAPH 2016 (Anaheim) and in festivals such as Mirage (Lyon), Ars Electronica (Linz), Future Everything (Manchester) and CTM (Berlin).
He is the award winner of the Sergei Kuryokhin Prize (Russia, 2013), Prix Cube (France, 2014) and also received honorary mentions at VIDA 16.0 (Spain, 2014) and Prix Ars Electronica (Austria, 2015, 2017).
